The Northeast District of the WPTA is pleased to present the sixth cohort Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Professional Development Program. The program is sponsored by the WPTA Northeast District. The program goal is to provide a quality and affordable continuing education program where content builds from one course to the next implementing complementary educational principles. It is designed to advance the skill set of physical therapists working in the outpatient orthopedic setting at a discount to those who are active WPTA members. The total cost of the course is $1,200, with $600 due prior to the start of the 1st and 4th courses. Course dates will be determined four to six months in advance. Participants who miss one course are able to attend future courses at no additional cost.

One of the most important places to advocate for physical therapy causes is in our state legislature. Establishing and maintaining a relationship with your legislators allows you to communicate what is important to your patients, your practice and other therapists in your district. It is also a perfect time to thank legislators for their past support.

"Evaluation and Management of Headaches Including Temporomandibular Disorders and Non-Radicular Neck Pain"

This course is clinically focused and designed to teach each participant to be thorough, effective, and efficient when managing patients with musculoskeletal sources of upper neck, head, and face pain. Lecture material will cover both context and background information including but not limited to relevant anatomy, pathology, joint mechanics, interdisciplinary management, and pain science. A comprehensive approach for the examination, diagnosis, and management of upper neck, headache (HA), and temporomandibular (TM) disorder pain will be presented. The content will be both academically rigorous and clinically focused to optimize the education experience. Upon completion of this course, each student will possess the skills necessary to begin managing this all too often underserved patient population.
